On Friday February 11 Clarendon defeated Wellington 48 to 39 marking their third win this season against Wellington. The win clinched the district title with coach James Stavenhagen praising speed size timing and outside as well as inside scoring.
Julius Haralson of Wellington headlines a nine member squad to represent State University in the Houston Intercollegiate Livestock Judging Contest. The team will judge beef cattle sheep quarter horses and swine at the Astro dome on March 4 with members named Dwan Phipps Friona Johnny Newburn Houston Kenneth McCasland Wheeler Dee Allen Pampa Dewey Estes Silverton Jerry Gage Afton Leo Chenoweth Tulia and Tommy Tatum Friona.
Texas Highway Department releases its largest single order of free official state highway maps for 1966. The fleet, 300000 copies, reflects continued demand from Texas motorists and out of state visitors. The map highlights Interstate and farm-to-market routes, safety rest areas, mileages, lakes, and city routes, noting 521 more miles of divided highways since 1965.
