January Licensing Rises With Twenty-Two Vehicle Permits Issued

Licenses for twenty two new motor vehicles were issued in January by the Tax Collector and Assessor’s office, Howard S Riggs reports. Nineteen passenger cars and three commercial trucks appear on the list, including makes from Ford Chevrolet Plymouth and Dodge with owners from Loco Hollis Hobbs Shamrock Coca Cola Co. and United States Gypsum Co.

Sheriff Sale In Collingsworth County Texas 1939 Notice

The State of Texas Collingsworth County sheriff sale by order of a November 1938 judgment for 246.16 dollars with six percent interest. On the first Tuesday in March 1989 the court house door in Wellington will sell the NW4 of Section 9 Block 16 H and G Ry Survey 160 acres to satisfy the judgment with costs. Texas Livestock Shipments Up in December 1938

December shipments from Texas to Fort Worth stockyards and interstate points totaled 6 623 cars, up 80 percent from December 1937. Cattle rose 81 percent to 4 742 cars, calves 969 cars up 15 percent, hogs 419 cars up 23 percent, and sheep 493 cars up 75 percent. For 1938 total shipments reached 89 511 cars versus 90 343 cars in 1937. Hog and sheep to Fort Worth grew modestly while cattle and calves to the market fell from 1937 levels.

The Amarillo Social Security Office relocated from 416 Oliver Kahle Building to the New Post Office Building. Manager Dewey Reed said services such as issuing Social Security numbers and lump-sum benefit claims continue without interruption. The office serves numerous Texas counties and clarifies it does not handle unemployment compensation.
