Wellington City Hikes Sewer Trash Fees To Boost Revenue

City Council on February 2 approved higher monthly charges for sewer and trash services while water rates remained unchanged. The move lifts the minimum for water sewer and sanitation to 16.25 from 13.75, with sewer up to five dollars, trash to five dollars, and out-of-city trash users to ten dollars. The city aims to strengthen finances amid a 584,888 budget and a 10 percent city employee raise. The council also funded street lights, new Stop and Yield signs, and joined a legal challenge to a General Telephone rate increase.

Wellington Industries Production Rises With New Rail Orders

Wellington Industries reports a new order from Southern Pacific for about 11 000 kegs of railroad spikes in 1981 bringing total 1981 bookings to 52 889 kegs not including the SP order. Burlington Northern and SP projects push 1981 sales above 4 million dollars while a fifth 8 hour shift expands capacity to about two thirds.

La Paisana DAR Honors Students at Awards Tea

La Paisana chapter DAR will honor five area students for citizenship and Revolutionary War history during a 2:30 p.m. awards tea Sunday at Burn Handley Community Center. General Telephone seeks 44.6 million revenue increase

General Telephone requests 44.6 million in annual revenues from the Texas Public Utility Commission based on 1980 data, with 23.2 million after taxes slated for the company. In Collingsworth County the company invested over 300000 in the last year, laying underground cables and upgrading services to Wellington, Quail, Marella, Salt Fork and Lillie areas.

Braselton Mare Earns APHA Title

Steven Braselton and his registed Paint mare Tarzette earned the APHA Champion title for halter and performance events. Tarzette also received Register of Merit in Western Pleasure Trail and Bridle Path Hack, with notable show success at the 1981 Amarillo Stock Show.
