Cotton Gins Report 1992 County Harvest Near March
Four Collingsworth gins report 37 363 bales ginned by February 1 from the 1992 crop with several hundred bales still in fields. Hightower of Tri County Co op says 600 bales were ginned in the past week and prices held steady until a December 1 drop. The Davis Gin at Dodson closed, sending customers to Motley Gin in Hollis.

The Collingsworth County Junior Livestock Show held January 30, 1993 at Salt Fork District Soil Conservation Building awarded prizes to 4-H and FFA members for light and heavy weight steers hogs and cattle. Fire at Wellington home burned out under control
Wellington volunteers responded to a 1 a.m. house fire at 1002 Haskell St. The roof area was ignited by a wood stove vent pipe, and the second floor later became engulfed. Firefighters kept the blaze under control until it burned out. no injuries to residents, one firefighter treated for smoke inhalation.

Wellington City Council reviews bills and service changes
Wellington City Council met February 1 1993 to approve bills totaling 6485 dollars and authorize roof repair at City Hall for 3908 dollars. The meeting covered switching charges at Marian Airpark with WTA leaving ball park, airport, and pool, to be replaced by Greenbelt Electric Co-op. A business credit card for the city was authorized. The council discussed alley trash bag vandalism, fire department gear needs, and recessed into executive session to talk about the sewer plant land and pivot system contract.
