Six Inches of Snow Brings Moisture to County
Six inches of snow blanketed the county delivering much needed moisture. Tommy Hudson’s weather gauge recorded six inches, equating to .78 inch of moisture. Cold temperatures and ice made roads treacherous through Monday as THD crews cleared and sanded from Sunday morning into Tuesday, with support to Memphis and Clarendon divisions.

Two Wellington children die in house fire tragedy
A house fire late Wednesday night claimed the lives of 2 year old Nicholas Christopher Wilson and 6 year old Chandricka Pridgett. Nine year old Melody Meadows escaped with others hospitalized overnight, while 5 year old Tyneshia and 3 year old LaRay Meadows received treatment. Fire officials say a gas space heater or hose malfunction sparked the blaze at 306 Ft Worth.

Turnout at '94 Collingsworth junior livestock show and sale
A large crowd attended the Collingsworth County Junior Livestock Show on Saturday January 29 1994 at the Salt Fork District Soil Conservation Building. Fourteen 4 H and fifteen FFA members exhibited lambs hogs and cattle with many champions named across weight divisions and species. Ribbons and cash prizes were awarded to winners.

Election school set for Feb 7 at Samnorwood
County Clerk Karen Coleman announced that the elections division will broadcast a satellite election judges and clerks school on Monday Feb 7 at Samnorwood Hash Caban library. The session runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m. A toll free line will answer questions. The program focuses on procedures for the March primaries and invites all interested to attend.
