The Texas Public Safety Commission announced drivers may continue to use operator licenses past the April 1 expiration date while pending legislative action on re issuing driving permits. Bills Senate No 3 and House No 60 are under consideration for renewal or re issuance.

Dodson Civic Club elects new officers and plans library

The Dodson Civic Club elected new officers led by President Hattie Scott and Vice President Ulrich Davis with Rollins as secretary. A park site change to Tobe Deahl land was noted for future trees and improvements while plans for a public library were mentioned. The Methodist Church events included a quarterly conference and Missionary Society program with guest speakers and discussions on prayer.

The state of Texas Wheeler County executes sale by A F Wischkaemper and Edgar Wischkaemper in Collingsworth County. A 640 acre Section 61 Block 16 H and GN RR Co Surveys land will be auctioned on the first Tuesday of February 1939 at the courthouse door with cash. Last Lobo Wolf Now In Museum

Panhandle Plains Historical Society displays what is believed to be the last lobo wolf killed in the Panhandle. Ed Marrell of Canyon shot the wolf January 8, 1917, after a chase with dogs while Uncle Dan Wallace held its hind legs. The carcass was mounted in a snowy habitat case by G. T. Sundstrom and Prof. C. G. Stuart Johnston directs the mounting and future habitat displays.

Wellington Group Attends Amarillo Legionnaire Meet

Six Wellington Legionnaires and Auxiliary members attended a district meeting in Amarillo on Tuesday January 24 with about 500 attendees. Attendees included Mr and Mrs Joe Phonyson Mr and Mrs Guy Clay Deacon Blanton and Lenest Davis post commander.

Funeral services for John W. Franks 86 were held at Fort Worth Wednesday January 18. He lived in the Dozier community years ago and had many friends here a retired farmer who resided in Fort Worth. Rev J A Walkup assisted by Res J F Adams and Rev L T Aultman officiated at Guardian Funeral Chapel.

One Variety Cotton Organization Elects Officers

The One Variety cotton organization met last Wednesday night in a business meeting. J Elmer Young was elected president for the new year after Jett Roberts resigned. Other officers were re elected. Miss Kathleen McArthur was named the first woman missionary sent by the United Church of Canada from Manitoba to Japan.
