Beginning January 1 1962 Texas drivers must prove minimum liability coverage under House Bill 197. Medical expenses must be $10 000 per person and $20 000 for multiple persons with $5 000 property damage. penalties start at 75 dollars for a first offense and 200 dollars for subsequent violations.
