Funeral services for James F. Mathis in Wellington
Funeral services for James F Mathis custodian at Wellington Schools and First United Methodist Church were held Thursday December 24 at 1 p.m. in Greater Mt Zion Baptist Church with Elder C H Duncan of Amarillo officiating. Burial followed in North Fairview Cemetery under Guy Owens Funeral Home. He died December 21 at Veterans Hospital Amarillo. He was born June 3 1923 in Ladonia and lived in Wellington since 1932. He married Bessie Thomas in 1969 at Childress. He was a Church of God in Christ member and World War II veteran. Survivors include his wife two sons Joseph and Clifford of Wellington three daughters Mary Doris and Rosie of Wellington his mother and stepfather Mr and Mrs John Givens a brother Lee Mathis of Pampa and two sisters Ruth Ann Random of Mason Arizona and Bobbie Nell Porkins of California. His father was Rev James Mathis Sr.
