Rites Held for J R Lewis at Wellington Nazarene Church
Funeral services for J R Lewis of Wellington were conducted at the Nazarene Church with Rev. Leo Laurence presiding. He died Wednesday night at his home after a seven year farming stay in the county. He was born August 18 1869 in Batesville Arkansas and was 68 years old. Survived by his widow and thirteen children. Interment at Wellington Cemetery.

Home Demonstration Club hosted a Community Christmas tree event with Old Santa delivering gifts and fruit bags to children. The evening featured a program by Mrs. Beasley’s class, while neighbors and families from Wellington and Lone Mound joined in for the holiday gathering and turkey supper.

Funeral services for Porter Ingram Chappell 79 formerly of this county were held December 18 at the Church of Christ in Dodson. He lived in Abilene the last ten years and died December 16. Born February 4, 1857 in Union County Georgia he married Millie Lemley July 15, 1886. Surviving relatives include a foster son W. P. Wade of San Angelo and several Lemley in laws. Interment in Artie cemetery. Funeral arrangements by Ellis Funeral Home.
