Texas Catfish Farming Lags in Per Acre Yields
Texas catfish farming shows lower yields per acre than other states. Economists from the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station report average yields of 932 pounds for sub 10 acre farms and 653 pounds for larger farms, while prices and market outlets keep returns similar. Smaller producers cut costs but face losses at average prices, relying on niche markets.
