Agriculture in Texas Takes to the Air
Texas sees strong demand for private planes in agriculture with aerial spraying fertilizing and seeding by specialized aircraft. Leland Snow designed a popular ag plane now built in Olney. 51 of 164 planes delivered since 1958 serve Texas aerial applicators. A skilled pilot can spray 1,500 acres daily and earn about 3 dollars per acre with owner supplied chemicals. Texas ranks second in corporate aircraft with 6,533 planes behind California.
