Wellington Council Sets Regular Monthly Meeting Time
The City of Wellington Board of Aldermen met on Monday December 4 and unanimously decided the Center is in regular session. The council amended ordinances to fix meeting times and will now meet on the first Monday of each month at 6 pm. If needed, they may increase to two meetings monthly. Wellington Activity Center rates for water sewer and trash were discussed.

Juveniles charged in Wellington graffiti spree and car theft
Three youths were charged with graffiti on multiple Wellington businesses and a curfew violation after a car containing the suspects was found with paint cans. A stolen Wichita, Kansas vehicle led to additional theft and parole charges. The Wellington Opportunity Center offers a Christmas open house and gift-wrapping fundraiser through Dec. 20 with proceeds aiding youth programs.

Santa Claus will visit the Collingsworth County Museum on Thursday December 14 2000 at 6 p.m. A photographer will be present for pictures priced at 3.50 each, with pickup later. Also feature is a new art exhibit by Bobbie Rhodes and Betty Harman with Dusty McQuire's donated wise men display from Make Amarillo Beautiful.

Local Lion’s Club member raises Leader Dog for the Blind
LeeRoy Belew and wife Judy will raise Duchess a Golden Retriever as a Leader Dog for one year then return her to Leader Dogs for the Blind in Rochester Michigan for four months of training. The program covers many facilities and costs about $20000 to raise one dog. Duchess will accompany the Belews to familiarize with life as someone’s eyes and Belew says giving up the dog will be hard but meaningful.
