Stages home in Sumnerwood destroyed by fire
John Stages III and family escaped unharmed after a bedroom window filled with smoke and a porch fire at their Sumnerwood home Monday. Firefighters secured the blaze. accounts were opened at Community Bank and Wellington State Bank to aid the family. Donations of food and clothing were requested at the Wellington Leader or Samnerwood School office.

The Don and Sybil Harrington Cancer Center will host a breast cancer testing event at Collingsworth General Hospital on December 26, 2002. At least fifteen women must register for mobile mammography clinics to visit town. exams are by appointment only with limited space and Texas Health Department funding for eligible residents. Santa to visit Wellington for Christmas concert and lighting
The Wellington Chamber of Commerce plans lighting on the courthouse lawn Thursday December 12 at 6 p.m. The Wellington High School Skyrocket Band will perform selections including Hallelujah Christmas Greensleeves Fantasy and Hark the Herald Trumpet Swing. Santa will appear for photos at the Collingsworth Museum after the displays.
