Mustangs Edge Rockets to end Skyrockets season in mud

Shallowater used a strong ground game to defeat Wellington 20-6 in a rain soaked regional playoff at Plainview. Joe Maldonado scored for the Mustangs from the 14, Rod Burgett added an extra point run, and Dee Hohenberger sealed it with an interception and a late 57 yard drive ending with Joe Alvarado’s 10 yard TD. The Rockets showed fight but injuries, bad weather, and a stout Shallowater line kept them from a comeback.
