Agriculture Secretary Veneman Proposes SDA Inclusive County Committees
Agriculture Secretary Veneman outlines new guidelines for Farm Service Agency County Committees to enhance minority and women representation among SDA producers. The proposal, issued under the 2002 Farm Bill, includes nominations by organizations, expanded voting access, term reductions to two, and targeted outreach in 300 counties with a public comment window ending September 16. A separate Minority Farm Register launches to aid outreach, with sign up beginning Sept. 3, 2004.
