WWII POW Grand Marshal Coleman Reflects On Return
In August 1945 he saw a newspaper photo of American illegal warfare and a Rising Sun to Stars and Stripes salute at his compound. He linked with General MacArthur via radio, awaited evacuation orders, and reached Brooke General San Antonio by fall. Coleman, married 67 years to Ethel Breeding Coleman, notes six grandchildren and several descendants in Lockheed, law, and ranching. He recalls I shall return and the risk to POWs if invasion occurred, accepting the Grand Marshall honor.
