Winners in three divisions announced Monday in the Collingsworth County Peanut Festival. Christy Strickland won Name Mr. Peanut with the pun P. Nutt Budder. Todd Collins, 8, won the slogan contest with Collingsworth.County Peanuts, a growing industry. Natalie Conner, 9, won Color Me Peanut. siblings Brig and Justin Rodriguez were runners up.

Indictments Involve Drugs And Forgery In Collingsworth County
The 100th Judicial District Grand Jury for Collingsworth County met Aug 8 and returned five indictments four for drug violations and one for forgery. Larry Culpepper and Darrell Thomas faced cocaine delivery charges from April 8. Ben Jack White got two counts of marijuana possession over four ounces. White’s arrests followed July 15 and July 23 searches. Judge presided by DA David M. McCoy with Sheriff Dale Tarver and Chief Deputy Tom Hunt testifying. White received two eight year prison terms. McCoy also presented a probation violation for Johnny Lee Nash Jr, resulting in a ten year penitentiary sentence. Nash had burglary charges from Feb 9, 1989. Probation issues included non residence, fees, and reporting failures.
