Community backs local National Guard before Iraq deployment
Collingsworth County residents organized a large send off for 65 guardsmen set to deploy to Iraq. A Sunday activation with a BBQ fed about 700 people, with donations from churches, businesses, and individuals, and local youth programs opened the Wellington Activity Center for children. Over 700 funds and in-kind gifts were raised, with Wal-Mart assisting to provide calling cards after bills are paid.
