Dallas era banking leaders are urged by Jesse H. Jones to embrace a government bank partnership. The RFC would buy preferred stock or capital notes to bolster sound banks, restore credit to expanding business, and maintain liquidity without depleting reserves.
An editorial note from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram stresses the need to strengthen bankers confidence and add a safety margin for bank loans to ensure credit provision keeps pace with expanding business.
Illinois congressman Henry T. Rainey calls the London economic conference a success and urges the United States to reestablish trade with the Soviet government. A Brontosaurus skeleton, 100 feet long and 20 feet high, is exhibited at the Carnegie Museum in Pittsburgh after being unearthed from a northeastern Utah fossil bed.
