All area peanut farmers are invited to attend a meal and annual meeting of the Pan handle Peanut Growers Association on Monday April 10 2006 at 7 00 pm. The gathering will be held at the Quail Community Building.
Dr. David Haacke leads a free Debt Free meeting at Collingsworth Public Library on Thursday April 13 and 20. Attendees will learn about Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University and how to beat debt and build wealth.
Parents urged to attend the Band Booster Club meeting on April 10 at 6:00 pm in the band hall. Members will discuss topics and vote for new officers.
Collingsworth residents host an appreciation and benefit Bar B Que at the Wellington Community Center on April 23 from 11 30 a m to 1 30 p m. Bar B Que catered by Cattle Call Amarillo with State Representative Warren Chisum giving an appreciation speech. Proceeds support local fire departments and EMS. Tickets go on sale April 4 at Community Bank Wellington State Bank Sumnerwood School Main Office and the Quail Store. Adults 10 and children under 12 7. Volunteers express thanks for local fire and EMS efforts.
The Tri-State High School Rodeo Association stages the sixth of eight area rodeos at Wellington Fairgrounds on Sunday April 9. About 100 contestants from Texas Oklahoma and New Mexico compete for awards and national-level eligibility in events including bareback riding saddle bronc bull riding steer wrestling pole bending barrel racing calf roping ribbon roping break away roping team roping and goat tying. Concessions are provided by the Wellington Rodeo Association.

Myrtle Yarbrough, at age 100, credits neighbor Bill Hatch with saving her life and recounts his daily care. After a weekend accident, Hatch fell or collapsed in his backyard and was found unresponsive. He was treated locally then airlifted for further care, with family notified as friends awaited updates.
