Wellington Kansas city council approves limits on livestock within city lines prohibiting swine and capping cattle horses sheep and goats by land area with a half acre per head rule. New rules forbid unsanitary odorous conditions and set 100 foot distance from dwellings.
A profile of Margo St. James and her Coyote group promoting prostitutes rights. The movement charges enrollment fees, issues member cards, and publishes a paper while seeking influence with San Francisco figures. St. James frames prostitution as an essential service and calls for societal reform.
Wichita city officials moved to conserve gasoline after Mobil Oil warned it could supply only 92 percent of projected gasoline and 94 percent of diesel needs for 1973. City departments cut nonessential vehicle use, fire and police removed fuel cans from patrol cars, and a study on smaller economical cars was ordered.

Mrs. Madalyn Murray O'Hair, leader of the Separationists, filed a $3 million slander suit in federal court in Kansas City against Rev. Billy Graham. She claims his Sept. 13 1972 television remarks falsely accused her of sending obscene letters. The suit seeks $1 million actual damages and $2 million in punitive damages plus costs.
The Wellington Optimist Club has transformed the former Madison School playground behind Lincoln and Woodlawn into a new community area. They installed $1,400 of equipment, repaired the ball diamond back stop, refreshed basketball goals, and plan to widen the baseball diamond by removing trees and an old cement slab. The club envisions a future “Madison Square Garden” in the corridor.
State Republican Chairman Jack Ranson accused Gov. Docking of arrogance and wasting taxpayer dollars by 72 absence days from January to May. He questioned Houston trip costs, state plane use, and hosting officials amid disputes over the governor’s state business vs personal travel.
