Police intelligence indicates as many as 100000 Negroes may march on Capitol Hill to press civil rights legislation. Washington and Capitol police fear potential violence if sit ins erupt, while King and civil rights leaders vow demonstrations.
The House Appropriations Committee slashed the 1964 defense budget by 1.922 billion dollars. The panel said the cut would not hinder essential programs and reflects spending the services could not have used.

Homer Louis Duffield 53 of 1022 Walnut Emporia died at St Luke's Hospital after a heart attack. He was admitted at 5 55 a m and died at 6 32 a m police summoned an ambulance from the Santa Fe yard office. The body was sent to Frank Funeral Home and then to Roberts Blue Barnett in Topeka.
