Fire Department Busy Over the Weekend in Wellington
Wellington fire department answered five alarms over the weekend including lightning strikes in fields totaling about 33 acres burned and $2,500 estimated losses. Alarms included a garage fire at Virgil Almack’s home, a trash fire on South Douglas, a large wheat field blaze near Alvin Cornelson, a pasture fire near John Wartick, and another wheat field fire near H. W. and Lucy Brooner with 150 gallons used. One nonfire call involved a car overheating.
