Waco Youth Drowns in Arkansas River Near Mulvane
An eight year old from Waco died after slipping into the Arkansas River near Highway 53 west of Mulvane. Freddie Swaggerty fell into swift 18 foot deep water around 5:15 p.m. and was recovered at 7:15 p.m. by officers and helicopter searchers. Tomorrow evening 38 cyclists known as the Spokesmen arrive at 5:00 p.m. in the KLEY radio station parking lot Wellington. The group includes 10 girls and 28 boys aged 12 to 65 led by three Bethany Nazarene College professors with home base in Bethany Oklahoma. They travel from Houston to Winnipeg and previously rode from Nashville to Miami. Local clubs will feed them and Chamber of Commerce officials will photograph print and write for a brochure.
