Tom Schwinn Post No 90 of the American Legion adopted a resolution protesting un-American conduct on tax supported campuses in Kansas. Copies were sent to the Kansas delegation, a Sumner County legislator, the county Selective Service Board, Legion officials and Wellington newspapers. The measure urged reclassification of student military status to 1A for those involved and cited defiance of U S government actions against Communism. James A. Lewis of Dallas Texas president of James A. Lewis Engineering Ltd prominent rail man and former resident of Winfield, died at 10 p m Friday in a Dallas hospital after a heart ailment. Funeral services were held in Dallas and the body will be flown to Winfield for graveside burial. He is survived by his wife Josephine Herrick Lewis of Winfield and three children Suzanne Bennett Harold Randolph and Charles Herrick.
