Severe storm lashes Wellington and Sumner County
A severe thunderstorm with tornadic winds and damaging hail struck Wellington and much of Sumner County late Wednesday. The storm caused widespread damage to electrical infrastructure, toppled trees, and damaged two Mobile Villa trailers. Heavy rainfall reached 4.50 inches in nearby areas, with numerous locations reporting two inches or more. A funnel cloud was sighted south of Oxford, but no injuries were reported.

Storm Simmered City Triggers Two Fire Alarms
During a severe thunderstorm on Wednesday afternoon local firemen answered two alarms. At 4 51 p m crews attended a downed electrical wire in the 1300 block North B alley and remained on scene until the electrical crew arrived. At 5 24 p m a dispatched truck went to 424 West Harvey to the Clark Noble residence where a wind blown limb pulled the electric meter from the house. the electrical department responded and firemen stood by. No equipment was used.
