Operations At Mineral Camp Set To Restart Ores

G M McDowell, general manager, says preparations at Mineral are ready to begin ore reduction as soon as the Denet creek water and smelter linkage allow. A 60,000 foot timber tract is signed and Griffin & Giles will haul fuel and coke. 75 to 100 men may be hired once running. Mineral eyes revival of activity after the metal slump.

Big mining deal and bonded claims in Thunder Mountain district

J R and K C Chitwood return from Thunder Mountain with quartz creek discoveries ranked among the best of the year. Two claims in the group are bonded for 300000 to New York parties pending expert review, after which a heavy cash payment may follow. Ore shows quicksilver presence and high grade rock, with seven claims in one body near Thunder Fountain. State convention delegates from the local union named and other business noted with little public action. Also an ad ends, touting King’s New Life Pills as life-saving medicine.

Contractor Jerry White Wins Idaho Light and Water Contract

Jerry White returning from Weiser Idaho won the bid for a new light and water system at an estimated cost of 39800 dollars. The project uses river water, a pumping plant, and a shared engine for electricity, with part of the work to begin this year and active labor starting in 1903. White also holds a Caldwell water plant contract to begin next week.

Delegates Elected at WCTU Meeting

Delegates were elected at a Woman's Christian Temperance Union gathering held yesterday in the Methodist church lecture room. Attendance was good and the meeting was described as interesting. Four of the delegates were chosen.

State Fair Exhibit Opens in Boise on the 20th

The State fair opens in Boise on the 20th with Washington county aiming for a strong showing in the competitive event. Proper interest is needed to match or exceed other counties in the state. All articles for the fair must be received in Weiser by the 18th and may be left at the offices of R. O. McKinney or O. B. Fosselman.

Bond Sale Postponed for Weiser Irrigation District

The sale of bonds totaling sixty thousand dollars for the Weiser Irrigation District is postponed from December 5 to December 13. The delay follows district court action on confirmation of sale and board proceedings, which could not occur until the adjourned session on November 14.
