Will contest awards wife half of community property
J. J. Shearer died by own hand about two months ago leaving about $9,000 in property. He disinherited his wife, passing all to his children. Mrs. Shearer challenged the will arguing for her share and that property had increased since marriage making it community property. Judge Jeffrey’s court Wednesday awarded her one half of the community property, $3,000. The will had deeded the ranch east of town valued at $7,500 to his son, a Mann creek ranch valued at $1,400 to another son, and a span of horses valued at $300 to his daughters.
