Birds observed around the county seat form disparate flocks that gather daily in parks and public spaces. Residents report unusual activity near the town square as early as dawn with sightings of several species converging in urban settings.
A dramatic Weiser scene prompts the formation of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in the city. The charter is sought, local leaders and visiting dignitaries from Baker City and Spokane plan the February 6 7 inaugurations, with Boise and Seattle delegations expected. The project emphasizes mutual aid, moral character standards, and social fraternal bonds as the Eagle order expands nationwide.
A long, quarrelsome discussion over routes to Thunder Mountain gold fields compares wagon roads and rail links from Council Warren and other towns. It cites distances, bridges, altitudes, and newspaper twists as proponents push Lewiston and Grangeville gateways while Northern Pacific opposes Short Line plans.
Ross Krighaum of Meadows reports crossing Secesh Summit on the Welser-Council-Warren route with eight horses and 2600 pounds of freight without difficulty. March and April may set records as homeseekers head west aided by Oregon Short Line and Rio Grande Western. Officials predict up to 20 000 people may enter Idaho before summer.
