Heaviest Snowfall Reported Across Camas Prairie Area

The Grangeville News notes the heaviest snowfall of the year, with about sixteen inches in twelve hours on Camas Prairie and deeper drifts on Whitebird and Slate Creek ridges. Reports from Hump Camp and Newsome Basin show five to ten feet on the ground. The heavy snows affect trail and wagon roads, while local ranchers warn that ongoing cold and snow will raise hay prices as cattle feeders and stockers require more feed.
