Seventeen Year Locusts In Wisconsin Lumbered Note

From the Louisville Courier Journal the piece describes the seventeen year cicadas seen near a beech grove two miles east of Louisville with buzzing like hundreds of bees. The article details their life cycle from burrowing underground for seventeen years to molting into winged adults and laying eggs, then dying. It notes their limited damage, mainly to tree twigs where eggs are laid, and mentions Green Lake County Wisconsin sightings in recent years as likely offspring from past swarms.
