Fragment of a Memory in a Distant Inn
A narrator recalls a rambling inn with a weathered bar room and odd relics. Scenes shift to a river town arrival, a dignitary Mr. Choate, and a poignant scene with a devoted woman sheltering a dying father before boarding a boat. The recollection ends with a reflection on lasting memories from youth.
