Prospects and perils of the gold country at Savery's Creek

From Savery's Creek and nearby tributaries prospects for gold are reported with grains from 8 to 15. Miners expect $3 to $5 daily with small rockers, ground already prospected may yield $5 to $10 per day for 60,000 men for a year. Auraria City grows rapidly with 300 to 1,000 houses, hotels under construction, and high prices for provisions. Indians are friendly yet cautions about cattle theft and potential violence as emigrants move toward California. Reports note a desire for territorial government and increased military protection.

President plans October exhrs division calls elections

The President has resolved to call an exhrs division of Congress in October to likely extend into December, requiring some Southern states to hold special elections for representatives. The House sits at 152 of 237 members. Senate nearly full. River News From Misssissippi and Missouri Rivers
