Arrival of a Supposed Slaver. Orion Sailed From Congo River
The barque Orion, fifty days from the Congo River, arrived at New York under Lieutenants Dallas and Campbell. Captain Hanna died of a broken heart. Orion sailed January 21 from New York, reached Sharks Point April 10, was examined as a suspected slave trader, and sent home with prize crew. Ardenis and Emma Lincoln may follow. Frosty Reports note Wheat region uninjured, no wheat panic, likely plentiful corn and apples, with steady fruit supply. a rail of favorable weather expectations. The gold lever runs in Pith Valley VT with several good yields. Hankerson reports large finds, while three men earn fair wages in harsh conditions. An old superstition revived describes a mad-stone curing bites, with Mallory and Ward claiming cure after a dog bite.
