Memoir of France's Court Visit in 1819 by Mr Everett
In mid March 1819, Mr Gallatin, then U S minister to France, arranged introductions for the author and General Lyzian to the French royal court at Versailles. He describes lending support for a court dress, Franklin's simple attire contrasting with elaborate royal garb, and the formal presentation process at the Tuileries with ambassadors arranged by seniority. Louis XVIII appeared frail yet dignified, wearing a blue coat and white vest, using a cane, as the diplomatic circle gathered for introductions before the royal presence.

River flooding and bank breaches noted in Mississippi region
The Wittaburg Bouthernar reports on a major flood along the Diamond Taland levee near Castleton break in Madison Parish. Water rose dramatically, the levee is reportedly overtopped, and areas in Madison, Tensas, and Concordia parishes suffer destructive breaks. River levels fluctuated with strong movement from Napoleon to Vicksburg, while Memphis showed rising levels earlier, and the note suggests ongoing danger and shifting flows. A separate item notes forgery at a Pittsburgh bank and a separate Columbus workplace death by hanging, with unclear motives.
