Judge Rising heard ex-District Attorneys Drake and Harris of Storey argue they are entitled to 4800 86 paid as costs in bullion tax penalties. Ephram Sherman Darfee died Friday in Oshkosh Wisconsin. He served as Worshipful Master of the Rochester Lodge of Masons in 1828 and conferred the degree on Morgan who exposed Masonic secrets. He fled the country due to anti Masonic excitement and had served in the War of 1812.
The Winnemucca Silver State reports large California wheat shipments moving east by rail. It notes California faces transportation costs from Sacramento to Chicago, making it hard to compete with Illinois in the market.

Quicksilver mines in California continue producing at usual levels with little stock buildup and steady prices. Exports last month totaled 2,484 flasks, nearly matching March figures.

The California State Fish Commissioners will receive a large supply of Mc Cloud River trout eggs from the Government Commissioner within three weeks to hatch and distribute in state waters. A consignment of 10 000 eggs has already been received. Carp will soon be distributed in ponds and the season’s work will end until salmon hatching begins.
Money was probably never more abundant in California than now. Many banks have been obliged to invest considerable sums in Government bonds for want of business to absorb their surplus.

It lauds Governor candidate Z F Moody for integrity, Congressman Jo Smith as strong despite the Grover ring, and Secretary of State pick RB Earhart as faithful.
