At the Ormsby county Association meeting President A D Treadway chaired a call for a State Convention of Mexican War Veterans in Gardard City on May 16 1876 to arrange proper representation at the Philadelphia Centennial on July 4 1878. The contract for erecting the walls of the new Stuta Prison one mile northeast of Renn Washoe county advances toward completion. The west south and east walls will cost about 40 000 and the site on the Truckee river holds water power for a woolen factory to employ prisoners and boost local industry.
