The bill to parcel out Washoe county passed the Assembly yesterday by 18 to 12, with Lyon county excluded from any share. Only one Republican outside Washoe voted against it, and the Senate is expected to defeat the measure. The proposal appears Republican in origin, fostered by a Storey county youth, and alarms justify opposition from ordinary mortals.
Washington March 2 The Senate began its final session with hopes of continuous work until Monday noon as private bills flood in during the last chance for claimants. A telegraph from Dr. Moreno of Tampa asks intervention for two American citizens imprisoned in Havana. the Foreign Relations Committee is urged to contact the State Department. The conference on the Fortifications Appropriation bill is approved and naval funding is trimmed from 2000 to 1000 extra sailors in emergencies. House in drizzle faces final day with a potential forty eight hour session.
A very pleasant progressive euchre party was given at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Blanchard last Saturday evening to a few of their friends. Mrs. Helman and Mr. B. N. Curtis were the lucky winners of the first prizes, while Mrs. Dr. McIntire and Mr. Helman carried off the booby prizes. Delicious refreshments and sweet strains of music closed the evening at midnight.
A telegram informed ER. W. Taylor that Stewart Leeper was arrested near Hiko in Lincoln County after a deputy left Elko to fetch him. Leeper faces an assault with intent to kill charge for a 1894 shooting of Seth Taylor near Mrs. Wheeler’s residence. Gafford implicated Leeper. Leeper previously escaped from Ogden jail. He was traced to Lincoln County and is to be brought to Reno for indictment.
Cannon offered a graceful resolution of thanks to the Speaker which was adopted. Wilson of West Virginia spoke for Democrats Simpson for the Populists. A rising vote showed all present except Reed and Dalzell. Speaker Crisp thanked the members and announced Culberson Hitt and himself as the Monetary Commission. The session adjourned sine die at noon after a prolonged posturing of the clocks.

He explains why he opposed full support but favored a substitute to push proper government built and owned canal, and cites objections to bond financing. Also notes funeral procession of Bishop Manogue in Sacramento with several Virginians and Carson attendees.
Jesse Jackson D LaGrand and J Allison pleaded guilty to grand larceny and were arraigned in District Court yesterday. Each was sentenced to eight een months in the State Prison. The case Novacovich vs Novaco vich occupied the day and was submitted. A divorce decree was granted to the defendant and custody decision delayed for two minor children.
