Washmorton June 19 The first ratification of the Chicago Convention action by DC Republicans drew a large audience with electric lights fireworks flags and bunting. Judge Shellabarger presided three platforms hosted speeches led by Judge William Lawrence who read resolutions endorsing Blaine and Logan with strong praise for the Republican party and a call to support the ticket. John Sherman urged unity and warned against undermining the convention expressing belief Blaine and Logan represent American union and a powerful national government.
