The Senate of Pennsylvania adopts a resolution urging Congress to propose a constitutional amendment to elect U S Senators by the people. San Francisco January 24 A brutal family murder occurred at a morning meal when Daniel Hayes 28 struck his father William Hayes 54 with a carving knife after a quarrel over work. William died minutes later. Daniel, a native of Australia, was arrested and jailed. William left a wife and several children. Daniel is held by authorities.
