Eastern Nevada mining camp prospects in Elko county
A detailed survey from Exxo Nev January 22 1895 covers winter conditions in Eastern Nevada. It notes shallow snow in Wells to Palisade, heavy snow on the Ruby Gostute Humboldt ranges, and zero to teens temps. It highlights thriving stock feeding, shifting sheep flocks to White Pine and Long Valley, dwindling open-range cattle, abundant hay, and a shift toward humane feeding. It then focuses on Tuscarora and Lone Mountain mining districts with promising ore bodies, the Dexter mine, the Home Melting Company mill, San Francisco Company prospects, and the Poorman vein near Grand Prize, plus other rich belt prospects. The piece ends with optimism about Tuscarora’s revival and regional ore prospects, signed by Joan S. Mayrauan.
