The Sundry Civil bill approved by the President appropriates 18500 for re surveying the Nevada California boundary from Lake Tahoe to the Colorado River. Nevada would lose a strip 0.5 to 1 mile wide and 200 to 400 miles long. The survey will be by the Coast and Geodetic Survey. Von Schmidt monuments will be removed to the line. The Denver News argues the Sherman Act does not create new money by monthly silver purchases. It claims the government overpays with paper, earning more in bullion value than coin value and depriving silver producers of monthly income. It urges returning to free coinage to avert national damage and restore fair value to silver producers.
The New York Republican State Convention rejects free coinage and backs President Harrison. It endorses his Albany declaration for keeping the dollar at par with gold and opposing silver coinage. Horace M. Johnson lay in state at Odd Fellows Hall after arriving by train. A funeral procession led by Knights of Pythias and Odd Fellows moved from the hall to Baptist Church where Rev. Pope preached, then to Odd Fellows Cemetery for burial with endowment policies totaling 8,090 distributed among K P Bank, Mutual, Locomotive Firemen, and Brotherhood of locomotive Engineers.
The first Nevada State Militia encampment began in Carson City on August 22 1892 named Camp Colcord after California style camps. Regimental officers and multiple companies including Reno Guards Virginia City and Carson units assembled with 70 tents as music flags and arms filled the camp. Citizens observe martial displays while local social life buzzes with heightened excitement and romance among Carson’s young women.
Carson awoke to a grisly murder Sunday night near the V and T track and old circus grounds. A heavy-set sandy man was found unconscious with a crushed skull, placed there with a light quilt and improvised pillow. No struggle or blood found at the scene. A poll tax receipt to Thos O Hare of Mono County pointed to a recent Bodie arrival. He died at 2:30 yesterday after remaining unconscious. Two men seen with him yesterday were arrested on suspicion as investigators pursue the case.

The California League of Progress informs Alvica Hayward and associates of strong support for the Salt Lake and San Francisco Railroad proposal. A board resolution pledges confidence and aid to place bonds and stocks and gather contributions, aiming to reestablish regional commerce and prosperity. Also advertised Reno Real Estate and Investment Co offerings with stock at 20,000 shares and monthly payments. promises rapid value growth and rent income.
