After two hours and twenty minutes of deliberation the second Taylor brother trial jury found both brothers guilty of murder in the first degree for the Meeks family killings on May 10. The court was packed and the cheering after the verdict was announced was deafening.
Sacramento August 3 About 1 o clock this morning George Lautenschlager was caught in the act of robbing the safe in the office of the Smith Street Hotel after breaking in The proprietor beat him with a billiard cue and then turned him over to police Lautenschlager had recently sold his interest in an uptown hotel and had been a guest at the motel.

Richard Leach was electrocuted at 11 10 after killing Mary Hope of Newkirk. The crime on November 18 1894 arose from jealousy over her uncle S H Moore s attentions. Leach cut his own throat, then 1700 volts were applied for a minute 57 seconds before death. Geuch fainted before the current ended.
