The Philadelphia Pennsylvanian argues the recent Illinois campaign violated the constitution by holding the canvass to elect the U S Senator rather than the state legislature. The road runs forty miles, with bonds: first mortgage 400,000 and second 180,000.

The Great Eastern is to be transferred to a new company to secure capital for completion. It has cost about $3,900,000. Original shareholders will receive for every 31 000 of stock the amount of F125 in the new venture. The plan intends to operate the ship on the American route.
