The Scientific American describes an improved portable shower bath by Mansfield of Jefferson, Wis. The design features a tin pillar with four internal compartments, communicating chambers and pipes, a curtain suspension, and a shower attachment. Water flows from upper to lower chambers, air forces water to the user, and a faucet controls drainage. patented December 14, 1853.
