Division of Koshkonong and creation of Sumner in Jefferson County
The Jefferson County Board of Supervisors enacts the division of Koshkonong to form the new town of Sumner. It sets the first Sumner town meeting for April 1, 1859, at district schoolhouse eight, and assigns debts based on the 1859 base assessment. The act details tax and license issues, delinquent collections, and guidance on five percent collection fees for town and city treasurers.
