Army dispatch from Tennessee reports Hood thanking soldiers for patience during the recent campaign. Wilmington Fire Destroys Cotton On Wharf And Rails

A fire at one o clock today burned four hundred thirty five bales of cotton on the Wilmington wharf in front of the Cotton House with minimal damage to buildings. Nearly all was consumed amid a cold NW wind. Two carloads of cotton burned earlier on the Wilmington and Welden railroad four miles from town. Below remains quiet. Peace Commissioners to Washington. Senator Hunter Vice President Stephens and Judge Campbell of Alabama were named to go to Washington to discuss peace with the U.S. Government and will depart tomorrow.

Richmond Dispatch: Surgeons Arrive From Varina After Franklin Capture

Twenty five surgeons and assistant surgeons captured at Franklin and nearby areas arrived last night from Varina. Mr. Seddon remains Secretary of War. The post was offered to Gen. Breckenridge. Blair's mission yields no reliable developments, though reunion on Confederate terms is expected to be proposed.

Yankee gun boat Diaching burns after grounding at Combahee

From Charleston the Diaching grounded yesterday in Combahee batteries opened fire and set her ablaze then she burned to the waters edge with all crew lost save a Lieutenant and five men. Prisoners report the Patapsco sunk off Sullivan's Island with only five saved from a crew of three hundred. Confederate Congress debates free negroes and slave use on fortifications with arming provisos. several naval and cavalry measures pass after debates and secret sessions.

Confederate Scouts Report Near Ennis Cross Roads and Rom West

Charleston dispatch notes enemy infantry camped near Ennis Cross Roads toward Grahamsville and Sisters Ferry with wagon trains. Reconnoitering force four miles from Robertsville reported this morning. Small party of Yankees landed on Little Brittain Island near Legares Saturday night but were driven off.
