Admiralty plans twelve war steamers under Blenheim guard

The Admiralty appointed Captain Horatio Austin and James Agnew Stevens to head a new ateam squadron. The Blenheim will guard twelve war steamers with six ready for sea within eight hours and the second division capable in 48 hours if urgently needed. Vessels include Cyclope Birkenhead Sphynx Driver Rattler Growler and others, with full crews and provisions, forming a cheap protective line of battle under one uniform system.
