It then shifts to voices on virtue, introspection, and various passages from notable authors, praising conscience, self witness, and duty, and ends with poems urging moral virtue and rural love.

Loss of the Brig Africa at Jamaica described in full detail

An extended report from the Cornwall Chronicle recounts the loss of the Bristol brig Africa at Montego Bay Jamaica. The fire began late at night in the forecastle, suffocated crew and obliterated the vessel as flames spread along the hold and rigging. Carshalton Park, in the harbor, saved some crew and helped rescue others while the Africa burned to near the waterline. The scene blends vivid imagery with a sober account of the disaster and the brave efforts of nearby ships.
