Another attempt to assassinate the King of the French

Extraordinary express reports a gun fired at the King of the French as his royal carriage left the Tuileries. Pickpocket chase leads to 21 days at Bridewell

The case before Alderman Hooper involved George Allen a Jewish-looking lad charged with pocket picking. The witness Mr William May pursued him from Aldgate through Leadenhall Street and Cornhill ending at Mansion House where he was stopped by a constable. Allen has a prior Old Bailey conviction and was committed to Bridewell for 21 days.
